The Early Streamer Emission Active 1D+ is obtained by polarizing (positively or negatively) its internal device connected to its tip, which is subjected to the storm’s electric field. As the lightning strike approaches, this internal oscillating device is powered by the natural corona effect, bringing the tip to a high-voltage potential (> 20kV) in synchrony with the lightning strike’s precursor phenomena. The resulting strong amplification of ionization at the top of the lightning rod tip triggers the anticipated emission of an upward tracer at the right moment to connect with the downward tracer in the cloud and capture the lightning strike in complete safety. This device requires no power source and no specific maintenance, guaranteeing the high reliability of Active 1D+.
The Active 1D+ technology offers guaranteed performance and optimum repeatability. The requirements and test procedures of Appendix C NF C 17-102 : 2011, have been strictly adhered in particular the complete sequence of consecutive tests on the same lightning conductor. Laboratory effectiveness tests revealed a very low dispersion of lightning conductor results (standard deviation), demonstrating the optimum repeatability of its triggering device. The lightning conductor’s insulation against extreme weather conditions (heavy rain) has been reinforced, ensuring the reliability of the protection zone. All the tests and trials carried out on the Active 1D+ were inspected by Bureau Veritas, which validated and certified its effectiveness.
